Now checking the validity of seafarers' qualification documents is a few clicks away, including while on board a ship.

Step one: REGISTRATION

You can access the "Verifications" section on the official Shipping Administration website (https://marad.gov.ua). To create a new account, click the "Register here" button. You should fill out the provided form with your personal information, and then click the "Create an account" button. If your registration is successful, you will see a message "Your account has been successfully created" at the top of the page.

The following data has to be entered into the registration form: e-mail; password; first name and surname; sex; date of birth; phone number; 3x4 cm photo (not a mandatory registration field).

Step two: DOCUMENT SEARCH

In the Personal Account, click the "Verification request" button, which will redirect you to a new page. This will enable you to search for a qualification document. You should fill out the required data in the form (select the type of qualification document, enter its number and date of issue). Then, you should click the "Submit a request" button.

If the qualification document is found in the relevant system and confirmed, the download link in .pdf format is generated in English or Ukrainian language respectively.

If the qualification document is not found in the relevant system, the user is automatically redirected to the page for filling out the verification form.

Step three: VERIFICATION REQUEST

You should fill in the necessary data in the "Confirmation of a seafarer’s qualification" form and click the "Submit a request" button.

In the "Confirmation of a seafarer’s qualification" form you should choose the type of a document, enter full name of the seafarer; his date of birth; first and last name in English; sex; nationality; rank; capacity; standard of competence in accordance with the STCW Convention; other grounds provided for by international or national law.

After the document has been sent for verification to the Shipping Administration, the message "Your request has been successfully created" will appear in the Personal Account. The same message will be sent to the email address provided during the registration.

Note! The confirmation form is to be filled out separately for each document.

You can now access the "Confirmation of a seafarer's qualification" form exclusively from the search page for a qualification document.

Step four: VERIFICATION RESULTS

You can check the request status in your Personal Account. There are four status options in relation to the consideration of your request: "Approved", "Declined", "Being processed", "Canceled". In order to cancel the request, you should click on the button in the upper right corner of the request.

You may find the results pertaining to the verification of the relevant request in your Personal Account and on your e-mail. If the document is valid, the status of the document will change to "Valid", and it will be available for download from your Personal Account in Ukrainian and English languages. The respective letter with the verification results will also be sent to the e-mail address that you indicated during the registration. If the document is invalid, the status of the document will change to "Invalid" in your Personal Account, and it will be available for download from your Personal Account in Ukrainian and English languages. The respective letter with the verification results will also be sent to the e-mail address that you indicated during the registration. If the document verification request form was filled out incorrectly, the status "Declined" will appear in the section "Requests" of your Personal Account, indicating the reason for the rejection. The respective letter with the reason for the rejection will also be sent to the e-mail address that you indicated during the registration.
